4-colored icon google gadget won’t open.
Hy all,
If you are the user of gOS, you surely knew what is it. It placed at panel section on the right side. I once accidently removed it from my panel. So now, I don’t know where to find it back. The icon is acctually used for browsing all gadgets installed. Without it, you can’t be able to add more gadget.
This is simple tutorial, but most of the new linux user (gOS user) will get headache to find it and make it area in the panel section. Ok lets begin. Before that kill the ggl-gtk process using system monitor.
1). Press Alt+F2, type gnome-terminal and run.
2). In the terminal,
jurin@jurin-laptop:~$ ggl-gtk -ns -bg
just enter
3). in a second, your google gadget icon will appear.
4). If you want it to start automatically during your next boot just go to terminal:
jurin@jurin-laptop:~$ cd /etc/xdg
jurin@jurin-laptop:/etc/xdg$ ls
autostart menus user-dirs.conf user-dirs.defaults
5). ok look at the autostart. Go to directory autostart
jurin@jurin-laptop:/etc/xdg$ cd autostart/
jurin@jurin-laptop:/etc/xdg/autostart$ ls
bluetooth-applet.desktop pulseaudio-module-xsmp.desktop
gnome-power-manager.desktop redhat-print-applet.desktop
gnome-volume-manager.desktop update-notifier.desktop
google_gadgets.desktop wbar.desktop
xcomp.desktop
nm-applet.desktop
6). look at the google_gadgets.desktop
just
jurin@jurin-laptop:/etc/xdg/autostart$ sudo gedit google_gadgets.desktop
and check this line: Exec=ggl-gtk -ns -bg –smdisable
just remove the –smdisable and save it. Restart your computer.
And Done!
