Fresh installed of gOS. Date and time can’t be able to unlock

Hy guys,

this is most common problem for new user. After fresh installation, it is our common behavior to adjust time and date to the exact setting. but for gOS,it’s different. When you open the time and date, you will be asked for password. But when you enter your password, it will says, authorization failure.

How to solve:

1). Go to menu->system preferences->administration->authorization

2). in this menu, just add your username for authorization when you adjust your time and date setting.

I hope this will help you..

p/s: please leave a comment when this works for you.

Regards:

Linuxspirit.

first, this is stupid. all I want to do is fix the damn clock, and now linux thinks that I’m some evil person out to ruin the world.

I can go into the BIOS and fix it there, but God forbid I use a nice GUI tool to set it after someone slaved for hours to write a nice tool for it. Security, This isn’t it!

second, which setting am I supposed to change in the stupid authorization application so that I can finally fix the broken clock? This is exactly why people won’t switch to linux. too much dumb security with out really having security, people will just log in as root and it will just be like MS windows. Grab a brain people!

hy sturmey, the authorization is actually for preventing people to change the OS since Linux OS is “open code”. you get what i mention, rite.for the root, you can also change the password to prevent people misuse it.

    open terminal
    jurin-laptop$sudo bash
    jurin-laptop#passwd

    Enter new password:

To adjust your clock or everything, just add your username in authorization setting in Linux. Just add it! you may see many option in the authorization, but don’t worry. If you are regular user, just do what i mention above.

    your problem will be solved.

    p/s:

my Linux is ubuntu 8.04 hardy heron.
but most of ubuntu distribution mostly have the same configuration.
